Daniel Bernard has a vast wealth of experience from Chair positions held in CAC 40, CAC All-Tradeable, Euronext 100, FTSE 100 and SBF 120 public companies. This experience is combined with his 39 years of international senior-leadership experience and multi-industry knowledge of the consumer goods sector and its digital transformation, software and computer services, general retailers, automotive, and private equity.

 

Daniel is the former Chair and CEO of Carrefour SA, where during his tenure it became the second biggest retailer in the world after Walmart Inc., and is President of Provestis, his own investment company, and a Senior Adviser to the private-equity firm TowerBrook Capital Partners LP. He was also previously Vice Chair of Capgemini SE and Chair of Kingfisher plc.

 

Professional experience includes positions in the consumer-goods industry at, among others, Metro International where Daniel was Chief Operating Officer, Chair of the Majid Al Futtaim Retail Group, as a representative on the Board of Peugeot SA, an Independent Non-Executive Director on the Board of Saint-Gobain SpA and of Alcatel Lucent SA.

 

Daniel has considerable experience in the management of leading international companies where he has held top positions, including Carrefour, where he made them a global competitor against the giant that is Walmart. He has expertise in corporate governance, gained through major corporate governance responsibilities in leading listed companies in France and the UK.

 

He was also a Director of ESAS Holdings AS (Turkey) and is currently a Board member of HEC Paris and Talan SAS, and Head of Governance Committee and Honorary Chair of the HEC Foundation.
