Major Career Roles
Sir Roger Carr is the Chair of BAE Systems plc and held a number of senior appointments including Chair of Centrica plc, Vice Chair of the BBC Trust, Deputy Chair and Senior Independent Director of the Court of the Bank of England, President of the Confederation of British Industry, Chair of Cadbury plc, Chair of Chubb plc, Chair of Mitchells & Butlers plc, Chair of Thames Water plc and Chief Executive of Williams plc.
Sir Roger has extensive boardroom experience in industry, banking and the arts and has been described as one of the most sought-after non-executive directors and chairs in the City. His boardroom experience from the 1990s onwards has included sectors as diverse as defence, utilities, hospitality, consumer goods and security.
In addition to his role as Chair of BAE Systems he is a Senior Advisor to Kohlberg Kravis and Roberts & Co. LP., Chair of the English National Ballet, Vice President of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, and a Visiting Fellow of Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Sir Roger is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufacturers and Commerce, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a Founder Chair of the 30% Club, which aims to increase the proportion of women on FTSE 100 boards to 30%.
